A practical routine for matching what is on the shelf with what is in your records.
Start with one product list
Use a consistent name and code for each product. Keep pack sizes and units clear so a box of twelve is not confused with a single item. A tidy catalog makes every later stock check easier.
Record the movement, not just the total
A delivery, sale, return, and transfer each explain why stock changes. Record the movement close to when it happens, and keep a reference that helps someone trace it later.
Count a manageable section
Choose one shelf or category, pause movements while counting if practical, and compare the physical quantity with the record. Investigate differences before adjusting a number.
Give the next step an owner
Separate items that need recounting from products that need replenishment. A short list with a responsible person is more useful than an unexplained low-stock total.
